CONSENSUS STATEMENT - strengths/weaknesses of the 6 + 1 Traits model:
We agree that the grades given to the sample papers were correct. We also agreed that the 6-point rubric is the best because it contains the most options for determining a student’s grade. We would use the six-point rubric because it does allow for more points to be given, but also because it seems it can be used as an evaulation for finding out where the students may be in their developing writing skills. Maybe at older gradeswewould use the four-point rubric because students should know what is expected and how to write an efficient paper. By using rubrics students are aware of what is expected of them, and the teacher is able to give detailed directions of what students must include in their work, based on these facts we all came to a consensus on why it is important to use rubrics in the classroom.
